Crafted from locally gathered wood and painted by hand with vibrant acrylics, this striking sculpture showcases the blend of Elah’s carving skills and Barbara’s artistic flair. Together, they continue the Yolngu tradition of artistic collaboration between husband and wife.

Elah Yunupingu (b1980) is a Yolngu man, who comes from Yirrkala, N.E Arnhem Land, and is deeply connected to his culture and his country. He is also the grandson of the late Yothu Yindi singer, Dr Yunupingu. He is a family man and his works are of a traditional style and colour and mostly depict local animals and birds.

Barbara Wanambi (b1976) is a Wanapuynji women from Elcho Island, N.E Arnhem Land, as well as being a wonderful artist, Barbara is also a medicine women with an extensive knowledge in traditional healing treatments.
