Elah Yunupingu (b1980) and Barbara Wanambi (b1976) continue the Yolngu tradition of artistic collaboration between husband and wife.

Crafted from locally gathered wood and painted by hand with vibrant acrylics, their striking carvings showcase the blend of Elah’s carving skills and Barbara’s artistic flair.

Elah Yunupingu is a Yolngu man, who comes from Yirrkala, N.E Arnhem Land, and is deeply connected to his culture and his country. He is also the grandson of the late Yothu Yindi singer, Dr Yunupingu. He is a family man and his works are of a traditional style and colour and mostly depict local animals and birds.

Barbara Wanambi is a Wanapuynji women from Elcho Island, N.E Arnhem Land, as well as being a wonderful artist, Barbara is also a medicine women with an extensive knowledge in traditional healing treatments.

Elah and Barbara are emerging artists who has recently moved to Darwin for a time to establish their position in the art world and for the education of their children.
