Sharon Butcher Napanangka was born in Papunya in 1968 and was first involved in the Papunya Tjupi Art centre in 2010 as an artist, and was elected as a Director in 2017, a role she continues in today. Papunya Tjupi Arts is a 100% Aboriginal owned and directed community arts organisation based in Papunya, the birthplace of the Western Desert dot-painting movement.

Her paintings often depict the waterholes, creeks and sand hills around Papunya. The shapes represent the elements of a storm - wind, rain, thunderclouds and lightning. The lines represent rain and water flowing from the waterholes and flooding the usually dry creek beds.

Sharon's works are shown in many Australian galleries, overseas and in collections worldwide. She is an emerging artist to watch.

This artwork  does not come with a photo of the artist holding the work.
